Controller Certificate
The certificate applies to individuals conducting commercial RPA operations and non-commercial operations involving large RPAs or restricted airspace.
Applicants must submit a written, sworn application, including personal details, relevant experience, and training documentation.
To qualify, an applicant must:
The authority may impose operational restrictions based on safety considerations, such as limiting the type of RPAs controlled, operational areas, or requiring Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).
The certificate includes the controller's name, address, PEL number, conditions and limitations, type rating, and validity period.
The certificate is valid for five years unless amended, revoked, or voluntarily surrendered.
The authority may issue a show cause notice if safety concerns arise and has the right to suspend or cancel the certificate based on violations.
Foreign RPA controller certificates may be validated for one year, subject to verification and compliance with local experience requirements.
